Luke 24 Amplified Bible (AMP)
And as the women were terrified and were bowing their faces to the ground, the men said to them, "Why are you looking for the living One among the dead?" (Luke 24:5 AMP)
Just as the angels questioned the women for looking for the living One among the dead because Jesus had already risen, may this be a year where we no longer spend time in the "graveyard" but rather find Him in risen places.
But Peter got up and ran to the tomb. Stooping [at the small entrance] and looking in, he saw only the linen wrappings; and he went away, wondering about what had happened. (Luke 24:12 AMP)
Just as Peter ran to the tomb to see if what he had heard about Jesus was true, may this be a year where we take greater risk running towards the things we have heard about Jesus to see if they are true.
Then their eyes were [suddenly] opened [by God] and they [clearly] recognized Him; and He vanished from their sight. They said to one another, "Were not our hearts burning within us while He was talking with us on the road and opening the Scriptures to us?" (Luke 24:31-32 AMP)
Just as the the two disciples hearts burned within them while they were with Jesus, and began to clearly recognize Him, may this be a year of our hearts continually burning as we recognize the Spirit of the risen Jesus living inside of us.
But they were startled and terrified and thought they were seeing a spirit. And He said, "Why are you troubled, and why are doubts rising in your hearts? Look at [the marks in] My hands and My feet, [and see] that it is I Myself. Touch Me and see..." ...they still did not believe it because of their joy and amazement. (Luke 24:36-39 AMP)
Just as the disciples fear and doubts turned into joy and amazement after Jesus' invitation for them to touch Him and see, may this be a year where our fear turns into joy and amazement as we accept Jesus' invitation for us to touch Him and see.
Then He opened their minds to [help them] understand the Scriptures, and said, "And so it is written, that the Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed) would suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and that repentance [necessary] for forgiveness of sins would be preached in His name to all the nations..." (Luke 24:45-47 AMP)
Just as Jesus opened the disciples minds to understand the scriptures regarding the death and resurrection of Himself as well as the message they were called to preach to the nations, may this be a year where our minds are opened up in greater ways to understand His death, His resurrection, and our call to deliver His message of repentance and forgiveness of sins to all nations.
"...Listen carefully: I am sending the Promise of My Father [the Holy Spirit] upon you; but you are to remain in the city [of Jerusalem] until you are clothed (fully equipped) with power from on high." (Luke 24:49 AMP)
Just as Jesus commanded His disciples to remain in Jerusalem until they were clothed and fully equipped with power from the Holy Spirit, may this be a year where we remain in Jesus' presence and allow Him to cloth and fully equip us with the power of His Spirit.
And they worshiped Him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy [fully understanding that He lives and that He is the Son of God]; and they were continually in the temple blessing and praising God. (Luke 24:52-53 AMP)
Just as the disciples worshiped Jesus with great joy because they fully understood that He lives and that He is the son of God, may this be a year where we worship Jesus with great joy because we fully understand that He lives and that He is the son of God.
